New blog will be up in the morning, there was absolutely no women on the sports personality of the year list for this year, I'm going to try create my top 10 women of UK sport this year, lets see how I get o
Right the top ten should now be above, A few just missed out on my list and also deserve a mention; Jessica Ennis would have been disappointed with World’s silver but she has raised the profile for women athletes with strings of public appearances and ad campaigns which hopefully helps to thaw the ice around women’s sport. Tamsin Greenway, Netball player for England and Surrey storm is also the coach and captain for her club and is highly respected in the sport. Kath Grainger picked up a gold medal at the Rowing World championships in Slovenia, despite an injury affected year; expect big things from her next year. Last but by no means least, young weightlifter Zoe Smith at just 17 years old has overcome a few obstacles from the past few years and finished a very respectable 15th place at the Worlds in Paris and set 15 British records along the way finishing 1kg off Olympic A standard, another bright spark for the future and more proof women’s sport is thriving in the UK even if it isn’t getting the attention it fully deserves.
Enjoy the list, and seriously look these girls up.
